Hi, I'm Julie — the bookkeeper and owner behind Compass Rose Accounting.

I started Compass Rose in 2022 with a straightforward goal: to give small business owners the same quality of financial support that larger companies take for granted, without the overhead of a full accounting department.

I bring 17+ years of bookkeeping and accounting experience to every client engagement. Before launching Compass Rose, I worked in accounting management and finance, which means I've seen how the numbers side of a business can either create clarity or chaos — and I know which one I'd rather help you have.

I specialize in QuickBooks Online and work primarily with service-based businesses in construction, trades, real estate, and consulting. These industries tend to have bookkeeping needs that a generalist practice may not fully understand — job costing, contractor payments, field service workflows, fluctuating project revenue. I know the territory.

As a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, I don't just record transactions. I know how to set up QBO correctly, clean up the messes that build up over time, and make sure the software is actually working for your business rather than against it. I'm also certified in QuickBooks Payroll and Gusto Payroll, so if you need payroll support, that's covered too.

I work remotely, which means I can serve clients across the country — but I'm based in Chicago, and I have a soft spot for the small businesses that keep this city running.
